A collegue of mine wrote an informative article about vulnerability assessment tools. Click here for the article. He tested and compared ten different tools: Beyond, Foundstone FS1000, ISS Internet Scanner, GFI LANguard, Nessus 
, Rapid7 NeXpose, Qualys Qualys Guard, Saintcorporation Saintbox and Safety-Lab Shadow Security Scanner.
