Harlan Carvey just released the FSP/FRU File Copy Client on SourceForge. The FCli is a GUI client that the investigator can use to select files to be copied from the suspect system, over to the FSP server.

The AusCERT computer crime and security site survey provides the most up to date and authoritative analysis of computer network attack and computer misuse trends in Australia over the last 12 months. The survey aims to raise awareness of the complex nature of computer security issues, identify areas of concern and, where appropriate, to motivate organisations to take a more active role in protecting their systems.

Reuters reported, that a General Electric laptop containing the names and Social Security numbers of 50,000 current and former employees was stolen in early September. The laptop, issued to a GE official who was authorized to have the data, was stolen from a locked hotel room, the company said. more…
