McAfee recently published a study about stealth malware – also known as Rootkits.
Some of the key findings are:
- in three years, the use of stealth techniques in malware has grown by more then 600 percent
- Windows plattform is an attractive target for malware authors
One issue that might come up for discussion is McAfee’s thesis, that the open source environment, along with blogs and websites, is largely to blame for the increased proliferation and complexity of rootkit components. 😳
